What is Lumper Fee?
A fee for third-party labour hired to unload a trailer at a receiver's dock, paid by the driver at delivery and reclaimed from whoever hired the carrier.
Example. A grocery distribution centre will not let the driver unload, so a lumper crew strips the trailer, the driver pays at the dock and keeps the receipt, and the charge returns as a pass-through line on the invoice.
